The “parol” (or Christmas star lantern) is one of the paramount Filipino Christmas symbols meticulously crafted with love and colorfully aglow with the Filipino’s imaginative innovation exhibiting the spirit of the season.  The kaleidoscopic Christmas lantern is called  “Parul Sampernandu” in Kapampangan identifying it as the city’s characteristic creation.  It is what the City of San Fernando, Pampanga is known for. And it is what has made the city earn for itself the unique title of “Christmas Capital of the Philippines.”

In 2001 San Fernando became a component city making it the 99th city of the Republic of the Philippines.  In late 2017, CareHealth Plus-San Fernando Pampanga made it into one of the company’s up-and-coming branch offices in Central Luzon.  Current Branch Manager, Catherine C. Nicdao, took up the challenge of building an efficient sales mechanism out of the increasing number of Sales Agency Managers, Sales Group Managers and Sales Counselors under the branch.  BM Katie is ably supported by Care & Operations Assistant, Jocelyn Zapata, RN.   Branch operations are supervised by Area Marketing Manager Luz Mari D. Cabral under the aegis of Division Head Robert C. Tubera, Senior Assistant Vice President with constant guidance by Marketing Group Head Noel B. Yap, First Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer-Regular Sales.

The City of San Fernando serves as gateway to Northwest Luzon’s Ilocos region (traversing the provinces of Tarlac and Pangasinan via the NLEX or North Luzon Expressway and TPLEX or Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway); the city likewise is a key entry point to Western Luzon’s Bataan and Zambales provinces (also via NLEX and through the SCTEX or Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway).  Probably owing to this, San Fernando is considered as a central crossroad teeming with busy thoroughfares within the city’s progressive commercial center.  Most companies conduct business in the outskirts of the city to avoid the hustle and bustle of public and private vehicular traffic.   For this reason, CareHealth Plus-San Fernando Pampanga opted to hold office at the nearby adjacent town of Mexico, Pampanga where the Robinsons Mall is situated.  CareHealth Plus occupies  Unit 207, Doña Isabel Building 3 along Jose Abad Santos Avenue, Lagundi with email address

The nearby Clark Export Processing Zone is now recognized as  the rising hub of trade and commerce in Pampanga.  San Fernando participates in the economic boom at Clark from manufacturing to various industries, including eco-tourism.  Opportunities abound with the BPO industry firmly establishing a foothold in the area.   The presence of the Clark International Airport augurs well for the province’s march to progress.  CareHealth Plus now participates in that march.

Trivia:   (

  • On Good Friday each year, in the City of San Fernando, particularly in barangay San Pedro Cutud, thousands flock to witness the world-renowned crucifixion that is reenacted on a man-made hill after a two-hour street play of the Via Crucis is performed as it has been done for the past 50 years.
  • A rich Kapampangan tradition is the Annual San Fernando Frog Festival (Piestang Tugak) showcasing the Kapampangan traditional practice of frog-catching and delicacy making of the native amphibian.
